If you use a SSL Certificate provider that is not embed in the iPhone you need to add the CA to your phone in order to access SSL servers. - Download and install Apple's iPhone Configuration Utility. Windows -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL926 Mac -> http://support.apple.com/kb/DL851 - Download and install your CA Root Certificate - If you are using the free certification authority Cacert.org the file can be found at https://www.cacert.org/index.php?id=3 - Files are usually ended in .crt, .der, .pem, .cer - Create a new Configuration Profile - Open the iPhone Configuration Utility and create a new configuration file "File" -> "New Configuration Profile" - In the "General" tab the "Identifier" field is mandatory and should be provided by you - Go to the "Credentials" tab and click "Configurate", a new window will popup - Choose the certificate you want to install on your phone from the list and click "Ok" - Export the new Configuration Profile (If you plan on sending the file to another user, otherwise skip these steps) - With your nearly created profile selected click the "Export" button, or go to "File" -> "Export" - Choose "Sign configuration profile" from the drop-down list shown on the new screen and click "Export..." - Name your configuration profile and click "Save" - Install the Configuration Profile on your phone (Using Apple's Configuration Utility) - Connect your device to the computer - A new "Devices" menu will appear in the iPhone Configuration Utility - Select your device then click the "Configuration Profiles" tab - Your should be able to see all configuration profiles installed on your device and the ones available to be installed - Choose the one we just created and click "Install" - The Install Profile screen should now be displayed on your phone - Click "Install" and "Install Now" if you believe everything is correct - Install the Configuration Profile on your phone (Not using Apple's Configuration Utility) - Email yourself the profile you created - Open the email attachment on your phone - The Install Profile screen should now be displayed on your phone - Click "Install" and "Install Now" if you believe everything is correct - Removing a Configuration Profile - Settings -> General -> Profiles -> "Your profile name" -> Remove * The attachment above can be installed into your phone if you wish to use CAcert.org as your CA. |
